Visual Merchandising Lead
About the role: This role moves between our two retail locations throughout the week, keeping our displays, tables and shelves looking organized, consistent & pretty as can be. Since you'll be actively on the floor and directly encountering customers while the shop is open, you'll need to be comfortable with seamlessly moving in and out of a sales & customer service role when needed. This role would start out as part time, and ideally become full time later down the line.
Location: This role will move between our two Williamsburg, Brooklyn retail locations — 99 Grand Street (Home & Gift) and 319 Graham Avenue (Home & Woman).
Schedule: 3 days/week to start. Potential to transition to full time once established.
Compensation: $24 — $28/hr (dependent on relevant experience).
_______
About us: Established in 2011, LEIF is an independent lifestyle boutique with a strong e-commerce and brick & mortar presence. Our specialty is creating a truly unique retail experience: in our expertly curated collection you'll find an assortment of products that you're unlikely to find at any other store. We aim to invoke a feeling of joyful discovery in our assortment (with a range of price points from accessible to aspirational) the main criteria of which is: an aesthetically pleasing product that brings joy or comfort to the everyday. All in a welcoming, authentic and warm environment that doesn't ever feel exclusive or pretentious — a store filled with beautiful things (which you likely haven't seen in a bunch of other shops) where the people are nice to you! We think you'll like our style.
About you:
+ You're creative and visually inclined, with an eye for style and detail.
+ You're extremely passionate about aesthetics, particularly home decor and/or clothing.
+ You have an eye for noticing even the tiniest little things!
+ You're very organized with an above-average attention to detail.
+ You enjoy being busy and aren't stressed out by a little bit of occasional chaos.
+ You're great at working with customers in a retail setting.
Responsibilities include:
+ Day-to-day maintenance, styling and re-arranging of a wide range of products and fixtures on display in a high-volume, high-turnover environment
+ Update window displays on a monthly basis (or as needed)
+ Quarterly, full-day floor resets
+ Identify products that may be missing from the sales floor and put out as needed
+ Identify products with missing tags, damages, etc.
+ Identify opportunities for re-placement of products that aren't moving as they should
+ Work with customers on the floor as needed (the basic core responsibilities of our sales associate position are also part of this role)
+ Day-to-day cleaning/dusting/sweeping of the store, displays & fixtures
Primary requirements:
+ Prior styling experience (ie prop styling/interior styling), and/or prior visual merchandising experience
+ Able to seamlessly pivot back and forth between merchandising and helping customers as needed
+ Comfortable and able to perform well in a high-traffic, fast-paced environment
+ Some retail experience (even if very old!) is preferred but not required
To apply: send an email to stacy@leifshop.pro with the subject "LEIF - Visual Merchandising". Please include your resume and a cover letter (ChatGPT is strongly discouraged—yes, we can tell!) to give us a feel for your personality and why you think you'd be a good fit for LEIF. Links to your Pinterest and/or Instagram account are a plus for us and help to give us an idea of your aesthetic and style. If you have any relevant 'portfolio' work for merchandising or styling, include that too!
We look forward to meeting you!
